The girl has been hounding me to go down to the Austin Museum of Art to see the new Chris Jordan exhibit ever since her teacher reported back to her class how fascinating it is to see. It really is something to behold. It is all together depressing, and overwhelming and also sometimes remarkably beautiful. It was really cool to stand back and absorb the girl and her one of her besties really studying the exhibit, asking pertinent and difficult questions regarding the work and our impact on the earth. The exhibit that AMoA is showing is not the complete collection from the link above. There are no truly violent/graphic prints hanging (as far as the kids are concerned). Also, as an aside...the (albeit small) gift shop ROCKS. I had no idea. If you are ever in downtown ATX, it is a great place to shop for gifts.
