There was a time after the man and I started dating or going out or whatever you want to call it that we had to be apart for work reasons. I came back to Texas and he stayed in North Carolina. It seems like maybe it was about 6 weeks...maybe only a month. I keep a stack of letters that we wrote to each other over that time period, in a box with other keepsakes. I was sorting through that box yesterday and stumbled upon our letters. You can't find a stack of old letters without at least giving them a few minutes of your time, right? So, I sat on our bed yesterday and read each letter...laughing at our youth and then of course crying at marvelousness of it all. We will have been married for 14 years come next month, and some of those letters sound like they could have been written yesterday. I feel so blessed that the tone of our marriage is still the same as the days when we were newly committed to one another. The formula: Lots of laughter, lots of love....Trite sounding, I'm sure, but it works for us, and seems to carry us through the difficult times. Reading through those letters yesterday, I realized that we have reached so many of the goals and dreams that we set out to achieve with one another and here I am sitting smack dab in the middle of their realization. How freaking cool is that??? Seriously. If you're reading this baby...Happy Sappy Valentine's Day to you. xoxo
